If you get a chance, read through the "Hot Rod" article I put a link to; it reports that there is disagreement even among the top motor builders as to the benefit of such a technique. Of course, in the high dollar, highly competitive top ranks of racing *any* small advantage is sought. I don't think it is worth the effort for weekend warrior racers.
