Yes...it must be removed to get the rocker shaft and arms out. I broke
the first one I tried to pull out (they are brass) so I gave up. When
I did my cam I just loosened up the rocker adjustments, slid each
rocker to the side, and then pulled out the pushrods. My assumption is
that you might need to drill it and then tap it for a set screw/bolt
after you break yours off. Hopefully someone else has some more info.
