Re: 65 transmission

The 65 trans doesn't really have a rooster comb, so you either have to use a pushbutton comb, or replace the output shaft, and output shaft housing, using the 65 unit on the 63 trans.

The 65 transmission was still there and I bought it today. It was in a
65 Dodge 880 wagon behind a 413. The wagon even has a tilt column (
seems like someone told me GM made those columns ). That must have
been quite a cruiser in it's day.

65 T Flite will work but, is the angle of attack to replace the Ball &
Trunnion joint shaft with a slip yoke driveshaft? 65 is the year that they
came both ways depending on the model and when it was made. Other than that
any two cable 62 - 65 T Flite with Ball & Trunnion wIll work in your 63 with
out a driveshaft modification / replacement. If you get the 65 tranny get
the driveshaft also!

Am I remembering correctly that a 65 tranny will work as a pushbutton
transmission or is this another senior moment ? I'd like to stay with
a pushbutton in my newly acquired 63 and I know where a big block 65
tranny is or was. I sold my only pushbutton tranny about a year ago on
a poor judgement day. At least, the old tranny went to a good 63
project.
