Highs and lows outside the range of human hearing, parts of harmonics that your ear just doesn't hear, etc. The process also has a quality setting called "bit rate", similar to the high/low quality settings on a VCR. If you use a higher bit rate setting, it will sound better. 192kbit is probably the minimum I'd use these days. The trade-off is that it will take up more space on your computer's disk. But then, disk space is super cheap these days anyway...I am sure it really doesnt' matter much in our '62-'65 Hot Rods where audio reproduction is overshadowed by the RPM music of cam/headers/and exhaust...Exactly.
