Get the pricey mechanical one.  The cheap ones are from china and they last about 2 years.
If you are not sure just make sure it is mechanical.
But you can get them less than 50.  I have seen them for 35.

The electronic voltage regulators that Chrysler used in the 1970's and 
1980's.  In the stores I've checked, they have them for about $15 and 
about $50, with nothing in between.  Why such a difference?  I'd like to 
buy the cheaper one, but I don't want to skimp out if I'd be missing 
something important.
