Re: can somebody with a numbers book run these numbers

Yes, it is an original V8 car - the first letter of the VIN is "V". If it was a 6, the first digit would be "1".

For the body tag :

0618 3364 V49 P5Y AAA

0618 3364 - Shipping Order Number where "0618" is the Scheduled Build Date = June 16, 1974

V49 - Model Number :
V - Valiant
4 - Premium price class - Signet or Barracuda
9 - 2-door fastback hardtop (which makes it a Barracuda)

P5Y - Interior Trim :
P - Price Class - Premium - Bucket Seats
5 - Upholstery Material - Vinyl
Y - Colour - Gold

AA - Exterior Paint :
A - Roof Colour - Barracuda Gold Metallic
A - Lower Colour - Barracuda Gold Metallic

A - Interior Paint :
A - Barracuda Gold Metallic

For the letter line -
5 under A = Transmission - 345 : Torqueflite
1 under F = Radio - 361 : AM Music Master
5 under H = Heater - 385 : Heater / Defroster
3 under M = Electrical Items - 423 : Backup Lights
0 under T = Battery - 570 : ??

Dodge's Anniversary Gold was slightly more 'brown' than the Barracuda Gold. In scanned or printed material the Anniverary Gold usually comes out more beige than gold. The Barracuda Gold was carried forward into 1965 for all Plymouths and Dodges, again using the "A" code.

thanks bill, although the color doesnt make sense, the anniversary
gold ( or i should say- the color on the car) is more brownish and the
gold poly is more yellow, a more traditional gold if u will.
I already bought the gold poly so I am gonna stick with it , but
side by side u can clearly see they arent the same color, even with
fading taken into account.
The cars nothing special so I am not worried about it, if it was a 4
speed formula S '65 I might be more concerned about keeping it all
orignal.
I checked the fender tag and it reads V49. The car wears the little
V8 badges, can u tell if this was an original v8 car??? Hers the
whole fender tag: bottom line -0618 3364 V49 P5Y AAA. And heres the
letter line 5 under A , 1 under F ,5 under H, 3under M, and 0( zero)
under T.

Correction on the VIN -

V4 42 711039

V - Valiant V8 (Valiant 6 was "1")
4 - premium series - Signet or Barracuda
4 - 1964 model year
2 - Hamtramck assembly plant

711039 - 211,039th car off the A body line (started at 500001).

In 1964 you could not tell a Barracuda from a Signet by the VIN. You can tell a Barracuda from a Signet by the model number on the data plate. with
either 149 or V49. "9" was used for the 2-door fastback hardtop.

Canadian VIN, by the way, had "1" for Valiant 6 or "7" for Valiant V8.
Again, you cannot tell a Barracuda from a Signet with the VIN but the body
plate had VVX1-P23 / VVX2-P23 for a Signet hardtop or VVX1-P29 / VVX2-P29
for a Barracuda hardtop.
