I went to purchase the flywheel, and things did not go as planned, the guy
has a big ship container filled with new and used parts for 60 to 70 mopar,
everything Is mixed together. After 2 hours we had to give up. I will return
this Saturday and we will clear it all out and sort it right. Some of it
will have to be dumped to scrap.

But I am looking forward to Saturday.

About the flywheel, I thought that it was only 130 tooth that will fit on a
360 2 bbl from 1974

Cast iron is fine for any normal/mild performance application. The flywheel 
would be fine IF the flywheel is the correct tooth count for your 
bellhousing...130 or 143.

But you still need to properly address your balancing situation.  Balancing 
the crank/fly/clutch together isn't going to do it.

You need to first balance the engine's rotating assembly - pistons, rods, 
bearings, crank, balancer, rings, etc.  Have you sourced an internal balance

balancer yet?  Then you can balance the flywheel with all this if you like 
or zero-balance the flywheel on its own.  Which it already should be if it 
is from a 318...

Unless this is a high-performance application, and/or you are bent on 
internally balancing your 360 anyway, I think you are better off leaving the

engine balance alone, and buying the correct flywheel for your application, 
i.e. an externally balanced 360 flywheel.  If you're willing to pay $400 you

could easily find one stateside and have it shipped.

Hi,

I have recieved an offer for a 318 flywheel I am suppose to pick up tomorrow
after work. My question is this; he says it is cast iron, is it a good
choice for my 360? I am aware of internal and external balance, however I
have planned to have the crankshaft and the flywheel+clutch balanced at a
shop where they balance Porsche engines. The price for the flywheel
including balancing will be 400 us $

Is this the right choice?
