I wouldn't imagine a bushing to create such a problem.
The fluid is running at 10-15 PSI in those passageways and jacket.  It won't be dry.
Plus, the sensor is taking as much temperature reading from the fluid as it is from the manifold mass itself.

I got it figured out. I ended up using a 1/8 x 1/4 finnint to adapt my
temp sender. I'l a little leary about how accurate it will be since
not alot of the sender will stick through the fitting, but I'll go
with it and see.
