common problem,,,,,,,,there are only certain pans that will work with out modification to the k member, ,,,,go ahead and cut a piece out of the k, it will be fine, and since you are just mocking up, you can weld it back if needed, usually does not take that much, some people have also used a piece of 1/4 inch plated between the insulator and the k member to ge added clearance for the drag link which also come close if you do not use an actual 62-65 pan, there is a lot of information on the site, in the tech part about oil pans for our cars In a message dated 2/10/2009 11:45:58 P.M. The right front corner of the pan interferes with the bottom (flange) of the K member. It is a V8 K member I ordered engine brackets from Schumacher and they said it would shift the crank centerline to the right about 3 inches, which they do. Everything in the motor mounts line up real good. The pan is an after market stock style pan , and has plenty of clearance every where else. Anyone familiar with this problem? Looks like I could notch and re-weld the K member flange or dent ( ER I mean "form" ) the pan corner. How much clearance should there be for engine movement? Any input is appreciated.........................MO.........SW IOWA ---- Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
