Neal, There is 2 grooves cut into the handle. A wire spring horseshoe like clip slides down into the grooves which allows the clip to make contact with the crank shaft which is notched to accept the clip. If you have the horseshoe clip upright you can slip a small screwdriver under the closed end and pry up and it should pop off. Another way is to apply pressure to the handle with a small pry bar, the spring will expand and release itself from the shaft. To reinstall, center the handle on the shaft with the wire spring on the handle and hit it with the heel of your hand.
