I would go out to the car now and spray the "U bolts" and "Shackel 
bolts-nuts" with CRC or WD40.

Even give them a spray as you are starting the job.

Another thing i have done in the past is buy new "U bolts and nuts" while 
your at the spring place.

I have found the threads will be either tight, or will get worn as you undo 
the nuts after 40 years of crap on them.
