Does that article say if the engine was to factory specs, or could it 
have been stripped/checked/rebuilt to cope with more rpm or to shift the 
power band?

Ours was rebuilt using all the original '63 components except new 
bearings & bolts (obviously), pistons, hyd cam & lifters (similar spec 
to original tho) & deeper sump. And perhaps a couple more ancillaries 
that wouldnt affect power/rpm.
Our dyno session stopped at 5500rpm for some reason but I doubt if hp 
was still on the up after 6000.
I guess a mech cam would have allowed for a bit more rpm?

I'd like to think our was put together a bit better than it would have 
been 40+ years ago by the factory, but I cant see that we've reduced the 
rpm capabilities that much?
