gas tank sealing?

Anyone seal their own gas tank with a kit?  How do you get all of the
liquids out at each stage?

I pulled the tank from the '63 Dodge Polara 500 (383) I picked up in
December.  It's all original.  I'm replacing the fuel pump and sending
unit, so I decided while I was at it I'd run 3/8 line instead of 5/16.
 I was planning on having the tank done at the radiator shop, but when
I got it out I was amazed at the great condition it's in.  A couple of
teeny surface rust here and there but for the most part after a little
water and wiping, it looks like new.  The undercoating is still great,
and the original pad on top is still great.  So, I decided to just
coat the inside myself.

But I had trouble getting just the water out.  It doesn't run out the
filler neck at all and I have to slosh it around a lot to get it out
the sending unit hole.  I tried stuffing a piece of PVC down the
filler neck figuring theres a flap or valve, but it's still difficult
to get all the water out.

My concern is getting out the sealing liquids.  First there's metal
wash.  Then muriatic acid.  Then metal etcher.  Then acetone.  Then
the sealer.  I'd like to get out each liquid in a controlled fashion.
Some are caustic and some can be saved for future use.
