You simply cannot be too careful with an "empty" gas tank. Years ago, a mechanic friend of mine was going to weld a patch over a hole in a gas tank. He drained it, then put it in the car wash adjoined to the shop and ran soap spray through it for at least 6 hours. He laid the tank on his bench and the second he put the torch over it, the thing exploded. Fortunately for him, the tank went straight into, and I mean IN TO the ceiling of the shop. Be very careful. /Butch / Ferndale, WA -----Original Message----- From: Derek Fried [mailto:FFParamederek@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Saturday, June 07, 2008 3:05 PM To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: hole in gast tank Hey all. The gas tank in my 65 Sport Fury has a hole in it. Its about 3/4 of the way up, so when I drove it before dropping it off for an extended stay at the body shop, I could only fill it about half way. Its coming around the time for it to come out of the body shop now, and I need to fix the tank. So my questions are: 1) if you had this problem, did you fix or replace? 2) where can I find replacement fuel tanks without foraging through junk yards.
