I know I know yer all mad . Thats fine Next time you camping use the biggest match too . You will probably get a warmer fire. Fact is if it lights it lights. In a well tuned engine it takes very little to light.

I just wanted to back-up what Don is saying. with this little tid-bit I read in "How to Hot Rod your small block Mopar" In the tune-up section, it had a paragraph on what spark plugs to use in your now warmed up motor. and basically said, to use the coldest plug that your car will run with. because there's less heat build-up with a cooler plug and like what don said, "a well tuned engine it takes very little to light." so instead of the champion J 12 the book said most race engines use the J 9 colder plug. so now I'm thinking all this stuff about bigger, stronger spark is just a lot of hype, too. unless your running a
Top fuel dragster etc...

I remember once I tried opening up the gaps in my spark plugs from . 035 to .040 just to see what would happen? all that did was make the engine run at a hotter temp. not the result I was hoping for.

just thought I'd mention it, FWIW.

Maserati had a sysr tem oncethat was just Flake of Quartz crystal being stuck by a dist rubbing block . Worked fine and they popped in a new falke every race, I have it inan Engine design book. No mog dule no points no coil Jsut a distributor with a piece of rock in it. I know though with w huffer and loads of wet fuel it is a constant battle to light but in a normally aspirated engine. it actually takes verty little when things are right. Jacobssaid these Standard boxes went to 10000 with no trouble. he even has a diagram to retro fit them in Ferrrari ans labis and such. I have used them exclusivley fo 25 years since testing them back to back years ago. We tested one recently againsta new crane set up to since the car was wred for both. (By me. Not ecven 1/1000th second difference. that day exacactly same best time as the 37 dollar box. Anyway. I said allthat to just say a Blue streak LX101 will run anything without trouble. If it doesnt it is something else not the box.
