Sean, I'm not sure that the Mopar tilt column is identical to the GM column but they were made by Saginaw and use internal GM parts. As far as using one out of a Trans Am I'm sure it's possible. You'll have to adapt it but the street rod crowd does it all the time. And I wouldn't worry about using the adaptor to connect the column to the box, again the street rod guys have been using them for years. I once used a Chrysler Cordoba tilt column in a 56 Ford F-100 pickup. Actually I installed the whole torsion bar front suspension out of the Cordoba into the pickup, that's one of the reasons I know the Chrysler tilt column had GM internal parts.

That sure is interesting, Dan. I can't remember the full conversation I had with the Flaming River technician, but I remember four things that were up to me: I had to find a way to bolt it to the dash, I had to find a way to adapt it to the firewall, I had to find a way to adapt the wiring harness, and I had to find a way to adapt the column to the steering box. Admittedly, on the last they had a universal-like adapter that made me nervous, as it had no provision to allow for in and out movement of the column shaft. Does what you are saying mean there were no such differences between the GM tilt columns and those GM made for Mopar? I hope that's the case, because I know where I can get one out of a Trans Am right now. The guy owes me a favor, too. Sean
