A engine versus LA engine

Is there any difference between the oil pump and timing gears and chain 
for a 1964 318 'A' engine versus a 318 'LA' engine? Just wanted to know 
before the mechanic that is going thru my engine replaces it with maybe 
the wrong one.
Also are there any other noticeable differences between the 2 engines 
besides the valve covers?
