If I recall correctly, there is no 3-2 downshift without the kickdown
linkage forcing it.? The older TF will go 3 to 1 as you come to a full
stop, or below about 8 mph,?but there is no 3-2 downshift.?
BTW, there is a chart in my '63? Plymouth FSM that mentions the closed,
and?full-throtle upshift speeds of the TF's with various axle ratios.? I
saw it last night while looking for something else.
If the trans is upshifting early, there may be an?kickdown linkage
problem.? Its quite common for the hole that the rod fits into in the trans
lever to wear and throw off your adjustment.

The part throttle kick down "at speed" I can understand...and I
wouldn't expect it to go 3-2 unless you drop the hammer. But if I slow
down to take a corner at a "city" intersection (ie 10-15 mph) then I
would expect it to at least drop to 2nd and not take off in 3rd. So
you 're saying the way it's not down shifting is normal??
