There are no goofy laws in MD about plate restoration. The only rule is that the plate has to be the correct colors. 1965 MD plates are a med blue w/ white letters. I guess they did the in enamel back then. Would anything else they had back then hold up such a long time? The paint on these got chipped and then rusted...maybe 15% of the plate. The rest of the plate is just fine. BTW in MD you have to run front & rear plates. Bill M 65 Coronet 500 'vert On 7/8/07, Doug Jacobsma <big_jake57@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:
I doubt it was anything special. I've got a set of 63 plates, which were very simple, cause back then they were just black and white, just redid those with regular paint, and sprayed a clear coat over it. Ran one on the front of the 63 for quite awhile, with little damage. They cracked down on front plates since then, so have the regular one on now. The new ones are reflective here in Iowa, but I have unmolested old ones, they are not. I think, just paint em up nice and use 'em. Jake '63 Sport Fury 'vert
