I doubt it was anything special. I've got a set of 63 plates, which were very simple, cause back then they were just black and white, just redid those with regular paint, and sprayed a clear coat over it. Ran one on the front of the 63 for quite awhile, with little damage. They cracked down on front plates since then, so have the regular one on now. The new ones are reflective here in Iowa, but I have unmolested old ones, they are not. I think, just paint em up nice and use 'em.
