We had the aluminum Edelbrock intake on our 69 Sport Satellite powder 
coated a silver color, about 16 years ago. Soon after, it started to 
discolor but only where fuel leaked from the carb. Where no leaked fuel 
has contacted the powder coating it is still in pretty good nick, and 
has not discolored from the heat.
Not sure how a cast iron manifold would differ though....
