Bob,
This may sound really dumb to you, but having said that; try taking off the gas cap the next time the problem occurs. Quit laughing. Just try it.

Subject: Electric fuel pump info
My starting problem that I THINK is vapor lock related
(hot engine thats been sitting a short while) is a
little better , but not cured. I am searching for
reccommended electric fuel pump makes and models...The
engine is 440 "Old Reliable" maxie clone with dual
Edelbrock 650's...( I know, I know!!) The car is NOT a
strip racer...I've been told an electric
pump...installed before the mechanical pump...and
controlled with a switch for use only when the problem
occurs is the way to
go....comments...reccommendations?
