I've always used a thin skim of Permatex "Ultra Copper" on both sides
of my VC gaskets and never had any problems. Also, don't over torque
(obviously) and make sure the mating surface is flat @ the bolt
holes...they tend to get pushed out may need a few love taps to be
corrected.
