They were available, the parts book is incomplete. We've gone over this before in past threads. There was a lot of NOS AM/FM's that went on ebay this past spring and summer for HUGE money. The thing is, they weren't true stereo. Besides, with Satellite radio becoming the thing to have, why would you want to invest big money into an all transistor mono FM rig? High Def FM might also take off but I doubt it. It's almost impossible to get these repaired too. Do the conversion with one of the stealth conversion companies. AM/FM Stereo with an amp and all within the original radio. Buttons still work, knobs too. You can even run a CD changer in the trunk. My radio work is way down the road but that's what I plan to do, I bought a spare AM just to send down. Tom Am I reading my factory parts manual correctly that the ONLY available radio in a 65 Coronet convertible is the base AM? and that no AM/FM was available at all? Also, if I wanted to hunt down a factory AM/FM unit for the car, would it even fit? If so, what part number or model should I look for? Thanks in advance!
