RE: Trans converter bolts

I've got one a bet you guys never heard before...I bought a 67 Newport 
in December to resale, and after working on it a little I took it for a 
test drive. The motor sounded fine in the garage, but going down the 
road it started a rattle. After putting it on the lift I determined the 
rattle was coming from inside the bellhousing. After removing the dust 
cover, converter bolts, and spinning the motor over with a breaker bar, 
the sound stopped. I turned the motor back the other way with the bar 
and a ball of metal fell out of the bellhousing. It took me 5 minutes to 
hammer it out and figure what it used to be....a starter shim! Somehow, 
someone had replaced the starter and pushed it up into the cavity, where 
it got hammered into a ball. Put it back together and no more noise. I 
couldn't even see any marks on the converter where it might have been 
hit. Anybody ever seen something like this before?
