Does anyone have any idea what the alternator output rating on a 65 Coronet 318, non-A/C SHOULD be? I had the bearing go bad on mine, & since most smaller parts places around here think their stuff is solid gold, I went Auto Zone since they had one in stock for only $40. It's a 2 belt pulley where I need a one...no biggie. When I put it on, it doesn't charge for squat. It will actually discharge when sitting @ a stop light when warm unless I power brake it a little. AZ says the rating is 46 amps. I called Advance and they have a single pulley that's rated @ 50 amps, and a 2 pulley rated @ 60 amps. Are any of these right? or should I have my old one rebuilt? The car does have a brand new electronic voltage regulator, and a fairly new battery. With the old alt, it would discharge SLIGHTLY @ a stop light IF I had my signal on.
