My friends AWB coronet does not have back-up lights, the area  where the lens 
would go  came with what looks to be a stainless steel  plate that has a 
design pressed into it. probably some sort of back-up  light delete plates
 
The lens area would be a good candidate for the switch  mounting, another 
possibility would be to go with a solenoid to open trunk, and  mount switch 
through the key hole in trunk lid
