Compression test on 318

I've had some folks suggest that the only way to get a true idea on the
comprssion in this thing is to get it started and run it for a few
minutes. For now it's just sitting on a pallet. I'd have to make some
kind of stand ( maybe like Don D's that he made out of 2 x 10's). I
have everything needed to get it running though. The other
consideration is, is it worth it? I have the poly and matching 727 that
are taking up room in my garage. I thought I'd keep them for a future
project but I need to finish my current project first and that may take
a couple of years. An LA 318 or 360 would probably be bettter SB
choices for any other project I might eventually start. I really have
no idea what the 318 & 727 are worth, maybe $200 if the engine is
"unhurt". I'd also be happy to trade them for 65 non-tapered rear end.
Or even a standard mid 70's Mopar front disc brake setup.
