Rich, when you get tired of guessing, pull the trans pan (pita) and you will be able to see all, and will be able to align and adj. the push button cable perfectly. I couldn't even get out the driveway until I did that! Rich Kinsley '64 Polara 4 dr 318poly w/goodiesI am still not satisfied with my trans shifting. It feels like it wants to creep in neutral and the kickdown is practically non-existant. I havemanaged to get the neutral safety switch working again. I moved the adjustment clockwise one "hole" yesterday and I believe it is better. I also tightened the kickdown cable about 1/4". I had it so that there was no slack before. I think I'll try one more notch clockwise and see if it's better still. I had gone one "hole" counterclockwise and it was noticeably worse. Nobody I have found around here has a clue about the adjustment on thebuttons. I previously tightened the button mechanism and that had showna great improvement too. There were some loose nuts/bolts in it when Ichecked. If I have any real problems I may take a drive over to Lincolnwhere it was rebuilt as that guy knows these cars. ----Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
