In NY if they realize the plate is a repro or even repainted it can not be registered as a YOM plate.

Just a thought, to make a reproduction license tag may technically be illegal depending on which state you live in. In Michigan it would be illegal, although I know it has been done. It is also technically illegal to paint an authentic plate any other color than what it was when issued, so painting it to match your car is a no no, although that is done a lot as well.

Not aware of anyone reproducing plates, I never had a problem finding YOM
plates
for my cars. Particuarily since this isn't a Mopar only item.
