I'm no expert, but I'd say it's a 273 based on the 273 cast into the side and the cast date of 1-24-67. And I think the C318 means C-1967, 318-Mar.18 Neil 65 S in Ottawa, Ontario ----- Original Message ----- From: 65 To: EVBC List ; 62-65 List Sent: Tuesday, September 13, 2005 9:30 PM Subject: EVBC: Small block casting numbers...numbers gurus help!!! I know this is outside the scope of the list, but, a friend of mine has a 67 Dart which he bought with, what he thought, was a 273 2bbl engine. Upon checking the engine ID pad it says C318-14 92. The casting number is 2806030-273-7 with a casting date of 1-24-67. Now the casting number 2806030 decodes out to a 318,like the ID pad says, but what's with the "273-7" after the casting number? Does this mean anything? I cant seem to find any info on the "273-7" numbers. BTW,we removed a valve cover and the engine has adjustable rockers and solid lifters, ala 273.
