If you modify the pan by, say, tapping it up to clear the bar, some oil would be trapped behind the "tap" every time you drained it. Alternatively, if you modified the pan by cutting the back and reworking it, that also seems like a lot of work. There may be a third way, I'm sure. But if the center link is modified, you can theoretically run any oil pan that clears the K frame.
