There are units that work better than others...check for ceramic tips in the gun nozzle...check for different size tip orifices. Special media (sand) is required for the smaller units...smaller sand particle size and moisture content controlled stuff. Re-use of sand an cause stoppages due to foreign matter in sand...they work (I've got one), but they can be a pain in the rear. Bigger is better IF YOUR COMPRESSOR WILL PULL IT !

My wife got me one of those 20lb, tripod blasters a couple years ago for
Harbor-Freight...doesn't work very well...blasted ok for a few minutes
then plugs up constantly. Tried different sands in it, same result. Get
what ya pay for when it comes to tools.

Hi Campers,

I have a somewhat-related-to-Mopar question.

I have a small bench type sandblasting cabinet I got at a yard sale and
it
works, unfortunately only with things that will fit in the cabinet.
I'm looking for a small batch style portable sandblaster that I can use
to
blast stationary things.
I did the old ebay thing among northern and others and I see what looks
interesting to me.
It's a 5 gallon, 20 lb. capacity unit, small and light with different
tips
and media types. Looks like just what I need.

Does anyone out there have one of these? Is the 20 lbs. gone in like 5
minutes? Could you just blast and prime a K member on the car (OMC) and
put
the thing away? I'd like to use it to remove rust and paint and a prep
to
refinishing, even inside the car (cowl, floor pans, trunk, etc.).

I'm just wondering out loud.
Thanks for listening.

Tom
