so what are you saying? with the exception of a few small block cars (which i never worked on) all of my cars have been b-body mopars with big blocks, the clock numbers i gave were based on two 440's i have right now. (both run very well) it is possible that what has worked for me countless times, may also work on a chevy, but i would not know, since i have never done any rebuilding of chevy motors. also to look down on a chev dist, you have to be on top of the motor, not standing on the passenger side, just one more thing to love about mopar big-blocks. tom 65 satellite --- Bob Kinker <robertkinker@xxxxxxx> wrote: ------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Sounds like Chevy instructions on rotor placement. > That is how you set up a > small block Chevy distributer! > > -----Original Message----- > From: tom hecht [mailto:baddd65@xxxxxxxxx] > Sent: Thursday, June 23, 2005 2:52 PM > To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx > Subject: RE: Engine problems---HELP > > i would probably go one step further and say your > "vacuum advance can" should be pointing at about > 12:30 > or 1:00 looking down onto the distributor, (from the > passenger side)with the gear slot horizontal, the > rotor should point to roughly 5:30. > what keeps throwing me is when you say the rotor is > pointing at #1 cyl, you do mean #1 wire on the cap, > right? > > if the car runs for ten seconds, even crappy, then > your timing (the direction of you vacuum can)could > well be off far enough for that to happen. > > fwiw, i think the avenger has power valve > protection. > > tom > 65 satellite > > --- Earl Helm <earlh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------- > > > > Roger, > > > > I hope you have done all I am going to suggest, > but > > lets cover all the > > basics. > > First, make sure your really at TDC.
