I did my steering wheel about a year ago. the first time i did it i used
bondo and filled like a body part. It quickly cracked and left gaps in the
whell and had to be done again. the second time i did it i dremmeled out
the bondo and cleaned all cracks and created rough edges to hold the 2 part
epoxy i used and it worked great. i used some of the extra paint from the
body(enamel) and it matched the body perfectly. the paint shop guy sold me a
can of trim clear paint and said thay would seal it real nice make it glossy
and hard. it did. it looked great. I was taking it out the car and set it on
the porch for a minute and bumped it off as i walked by only to have it
bounce off the ground and crack all over again. I put it on as i neede to
drive and it still looks exactly like it did when i put it on. the cracks
haven't gotten any biger and the paint still looks great. I'll do it again
and not drop it this time.
