hiya , i have a 383 with hydraulic lifters i got from mopar performance along 
with cam " purple shaft" . hydraulic lifters from mopar you tighten all the 
way down .
 i learned best way to adjust solids is get a book that has the sequence of 
adjusting . 
i forget sequence but for example , get number one on compression stroke and 
you can get both intake and exhaust on that cylinder , but also can get 
exhaust on say number seven and and four etc ,   then rotate crank 360 degrees get 
remainder . 
  makes it a charm to adjust , ...larry
note:    some people can adjust em with car running , i cant , whew
