maybe you got a wrong part,

the headers come out with one side further back than the other, (all headers)
with mine, the x-pipe has an equal center length, this means you need
one elbow to compensate for the header which is longer/shorter.

once you figure out which is which,(they are supposed to be numbered)
then you could put it on with the hump either down or up, i complained to
tti about the hump, maybe it is not there anymore?

i have never had an exhaust system that compares to the performance of the x-pipe.

i put the x-pipe on my 65, there are two different elbows that connect to
the collectors, because one is closer than the other,
the "hump" goes up, and the emergency brake cable is above the pipe,

once you get the right elbows in place, it fits well.
mine is 3", with the three inch, i had to pound the frame cross-member to
clear
on the drivers side, in retrospect, i may have been able to trim the
collector,
and it would have fit.
before this set-up, i had 3" h-pipe with headmans, the exhaust slowed the car
by about 3 tenths.
with the tti's and x-pipe, there is no difference with exhaust, or open
headers.
my exhaust dumps in front of the rear-end though.

the hump in the pipe looks stupid from the side, but tti said they were told
it was needed by other customers, it really just gets in the way of the
drive-shaft
loop, i had to modify my loop, to make the exhaust work.

The elbows that came with my 2.5" system seemed to be exactly the same.
Maybe it's something they do with the 3" system? Mine cleared the crossmember
but doesn't fit up into the cutouts anyway. I'm pretty disappointed with
mine. I really wish I would of just gone with the H-pipe. I believe the fit is
a lot better with that system.
