I agree. And a cheater pipe on that breakover is a real bonus. But you still need a back-up on the yoke, to stop movement.
When I worked as a heavy-line mechanic in the
dealerships many moons ago, I started using Craftsman
break-overs to take the pinion nut off. I broke quite
a few of them and finally moved on to a larger
Snap-On, which always did the job. You either need a
high quality 1/2 inch break-over or a 3/4 inch one to
do the job.

I never had much luck using a 1/2" drive impact to
remove the pinion yoke nut.It just doesn't hit hard enough.
I did try a 3/4" drive impact.
My compressor wouldn't run the 3/4" drive impact,
but if yours will, a 3/4" drive will break the nut loose.
