3/16" was used on all RWD brakes systems 67->later, on the single res.
systems they used a larger line from the MC to the distribution block,
maybe 1/4", and then 3/16"s to each wheel cylinder.

there are differences in power vs. manual MCs. besides bore sizes being
different, the rear of a manual MC has a groove inside the pushrod
receiver bore that accepts the pushrod. the groove mates to a rubber
or metal retainer clip/bushing that fits to the pushrod and holds the
pushrod in place. power MCs have a smooth bore and the rod that comes
out of the booster just bottoms out in that bore (no retainer
clip/bushing). It is dangerous to run a power MC without a booster (with
a manual rod) because the rod can fall out!! If you have a manual
MC on a power booster, its possible that the bottom out point on the
MC at the wrong place,... this could be your problem,,, then again,
maybe not...

if you are using used calipers, they could be stuck. if you are using
old rubber brake lines, they could be clogged.
