I would not trust the block pictured if you are going for a budget-friendly build. I bought a ’66 440 HP block (stock bore size) for my truck for $600 - the price of the block was quickly eclipsed by cnc/machine work. Even if I had paid $200, it wouldn’t have mattered relative to the cost of machining. Though it could have paid for the fluidamper. The HP 440 block was what I wanted. You can build a good engine inexpensively. But if you want to build a great engine it isn’t going to be cheap no matter what you start with. Most people don’t care or know the difference between a good and great engine, so it will not help with resale whatsoever. And if you are wanting to build a great engine, most people will think you are crazy for spending so much. A better option had I been thinking clearly would have been to buy a 400 block, then stroked it with a kit. Search YouTube for Mopar Joe and check out his build. > On Mar 2, 2023, at 12:13 PM, Jim Jablonski <groovinjim@xxxxxxx> wrote: > > In my experience the market has come down.
