The air in the fuel filter occured with the original fuel pump and also still
does it with the replacement pump I just installed (this one was listed by
NAPA as being correct for late 60's 318's and 340's. Are fuel pumps
interchangable for poly 318's and 340's?).
This poly engine runs a little rough but does run with either old or new pump.

I've seen mine do that when the motor is fully warmed up because the gas line
passes right next to the engine cause some gasoline evaporation gasses
forming bubbles in the lines, but I've never heard of it getting that bad. Perhaps
you should take the pump off and see if its stiff or not.

Can anyone give me an answer on this?
Sometimes while idling my 62 poly 318, the see-thru fuel filter is completely

full of fuel. Other times, I can see the fuel pulsing into the filter so
slowly it only keeps it 1/4 full (and when it is doing this, even reving the
engine doesn't increase the slow flow in).
Is there something wrong with my fuel pump or is this normal?
Thanks for any help.
Paul
