On my 63 car I was able to unscrew these screws with no trouble. On my 65 cars I wasn't so lucky.

Buy a very small pair of Channel Lock brand pliers. The ones I have are #421 and are 4.625" long, overall, with blue handles.A big bonus is, after you have these pliers, you'll use them all the time.
Open the trunk and grab the two outside screw threads , and turn counter clockwise. They will back out.

The inside screws take a little more finesse.
Take a small cold chisel and putting the blade between the screw head and the body, drive the chisel. The washer head will lift, enabling you to grab the head with the channel locks.I''ve done two cars this way, and I didn't damage the body at all, doing so.
You may want to lay a strip of tape on the body where you drive the chisel.
Just in case you're worried about messing up the paint, but I didn't have to.

Good Luck

Jimmy

Anyone have a good idea for removal of the security
screws ( the ones that are straight screws but dished
on opposite sides) on the rear tag light bezels on a
64 Savoy? I really don't understand why Ma Mopar
installed security screws on the rear tag lights
bezels. I tried to remove these on a parts car by
grinding off the head of the screw and wound up
damaging the bezels. I'd like to save these if
possible. I've tried to find a security head
speciality screw driver with no luck. I've also
thought about taking a cheap screw driver and
attaching it to the screw with a spot weld for
removing it. Any ideas besides a big hammer and
chisel? A stick of dynomite? Drill em' out?
