The best way to seal the  pan gasket is use 3M yellow grillra snot.  Use on 
pan side of the gasket then place extra on all four corners.  Never had a 
leak or lost a gasket this way.  You can remove the pan to without the 
gasket sticking to the engine.  Been doing this for over 40 years.  Just me 
nickels worth.  I do no like useing the red or blue silacone stuff.
