You will have problems fitting the hemi and poly blocks around the steering gear - the L:A block was given a small depression on the left side of the block to allow more room in that area. You don't say if your V-100 has a 273 right now or not, but if you have an early production 1964 (before the 273 V8 was introduced) you will also have problems around the firewall. The firewall stamping was altered to make room for the distributor and heads on the LA block. These early hemis would fit into a 1965 Coronet or Belvedere as they are the larger B body. And the B body was available with R, RB and 426 hemi, all engines that were larger than the A block and earlier Dodge hemi/poly engines. But the pre-1967 A body engine compartment was both shorter and narrower. It can be done, though. There is a 1963 Valiant convertible here in Vancouver that someone stuffed an early hemi under the hood. The Hemi V-100 sounds cool. My 2.5 cents is that it will take a lot of fab work, parts for the early Hemis are expensive, and the Hemi is a heavy motor. If it were me I'd think about cloning the 273 in the Valiant into a "Formula S" type motor and sell the 241 Hemi. The "S" 273 with a three on the tree would be a fun car, too. But it's your call, of course. If you feel the urge to "Hemify" and have the fabrication skills and patience, go for it. :) Gary H.
