And as the cables are separate, it is possible to one of the two properly adjusted and the other not. On the 1963 Valiant I once owned. the park cable was out of adjustment at the dash lever. The park sprag would not release all the way and was caught in park all the time after reassembling the dash. A quick adjustment got it released enough to 'click' with every driveshaft revolution. In this case I would say the park cable is in dire need of adjustment.
