Hi Earl,
I can send you the unit if you want to slip it in a "friends" car. :-)

Ken,

Thanks. In all reality it almost had to be the ECU. Well I now have
another trivia trouble shooting
arrow in my quiver. I am glad it turned out to be something so simple.

What does amaze me, is the fact that it was still running.

Earl

Hi Earl,
Well I replaced the ECU last night and the problem is gone. It still
needs a tune up but the spark snap with the engine off is completely
gone.

When I took the old box off I turned it over and all the sealant
material on the back of the box was gone. At some point it must have
melted out because I noticed some gunk running down the firewall. All
that was left was some granular material that was sticky that had
slumped to the bottom of the ECU and left the resistors and circuits
exposed to the elements.

Regards,
Ken
