Sean, Think about this, if it is loose, then the pinion can get a running start at the ring gear, and hit it harder. Gee what will that do. It will impact harder, and have a tendency to strip the gears. That is the only real issue with 8.75 rears anyway, weak gears. So go get your pig, and have someone else set it up correctly. The only reason he wants to set it up loose, is because he is too lazy to take it apart again and put the proper shims in the pinion. Earl Hi Sean, Yes, I think he sounds shady. I recently installed a sure grip so I was in the shop manual and it has only one way to rebuild a SureGrip. See if he owns a dial indicator and torque wrench. :-) Regards, Ken [AD removed for archives] ------------------------------------------------------------------- Tired of annoying POP-Ups?
