Does anyone know if this is normal or it there is something wrong with the ignition? Thanks, Ken -----Original Message----- From: Westerlund, Ken Sent: Wednesday, September 15, 2004 9:07 AM To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: Big Block Ignition Question Hi all, I am using the factory electronic ignition that came with my 400. I am not sure if I have a problem or not. The car acts like it needs a tune-up, but the question is... When I turn the ignition on (without starting the engine) I hear a spark snapping sound coming from the distributor. In fact I pulled a plug wire off the distributor and a spark is jumping the 1/4 inch gap between the wire and the cap. With the car not running it will just keep jumping about every half second. I know this is not right for a point ignition system, but is it right for an electronic ignition? If not what could the problem be? A bad black (or chrome) box?
