Greg,
Your 65 came with a factory 4spd., which had a black ball. Some dealers 
offered a dealer installed Hurst 4spd which had a white ball with shift pattern. If 
I remember right the Hurst 
T- handle was introduced around late '67 or early '68. ( Yikes am I showing 
my age)
