Hi
I have two of these (both '58's) and have rebuilt them both.
You didn't specify if "kickdown" works or not in "D" , but first off I
would check the cable adjustment. Also ensure that there is an actual shift
in "D" from low to direct. The Kickdown provides Low in all ranges , but the
Direct clutch is all thats applied when in direct.

Subject: PowerFlite Problems

The transmission shop is finishing the rebuild of the Powerflite in my '59.
The tranny is a '58 Coronet 325, Powerflite, air-cooled unit. They said
they
had it on the road, and everything seemed to work, except the manual shift
to
"Low". Since their techs are all younger pups, with the exception of one or
two "experienced" guys, they asked if I had any idea of the problem. I am
turning to you "experienced" folk for help!

All assistance is appreciated. Have a great Labor Day weekend!!!
